Legacy Products
This page lists Antipodes Music Server/Player products that are no longer in production.
Music Server technology advances rapidly because most new generations of chipsets simultaneously offer a step up in sound quality and in computational performance. As a world-leader in the field, Antipodes chooses to continuously deliver the best available technology in our current models, and to look after our existing customers through attractive upgrade and trade-in offers.
Most recent models listed below qualify for an upgrade that installs some of our latest technology in your existing case-work. All models are eligible for trade-in offers.
All models, except those sold prior to 2014 using obsolete 32-bit processors, can be upgraded to Antipodes latest software suite.
Recent Models
Models released since 2017 remain very competitive, particularly after the available upgrades have been installed. Unlike earlier models, the recent models use chipsets that can be used effectively with the latest playback applications. However, the K30, CX, Core and DS-Core are much more suitable if you wish to use the more demanding playback features of HQPlayer Server or Roon Server.

Early Models
Models released prior to 2017 were designed to run the light playback applications that prevailed at the time, such as Squeeze and MPD, and they were designed to perform both the Server and Player functions.
Models sold prior to 2014 used 32-bit processors and so could be upgraded to later software versions, and are restricted to running Vortexbox software. The suppliers of Vortexbox software no longer provide support and updates, but these music servers can still be used.
On top of the adoption of 64-bit processors, the release of Roon, and the later release of HQPlayer Server embedded, meant two significant changes were required in music server/player design. Running these demanding server applications requires significantly more computational power than any of the early models possess. Plus, the need for more power to run Server apps, means it is advantageous to use separate low-power (and low-noise) devices to run the Player apps.
For these reasons, the early models are suited, either for use with Squeeze or MPD, or for running only the Player app, and adding a more powerful device for the server app.
If you have an early model we highly recommend that you contact us to discuss your trade-in options, while these are still available.
