Overview
Operating System
The Antipodes Application Suite is based on the Linux Kernel OS Architecture. Linux is highly suited to creating operating systems for any special purpose application,
because it is possible to only include the services and features necessary. This means we have been able to fine tune the Antipodes
operating system to be the most efficient possible operating system to support the required features and functionality of our music server-streamers, and this contributes to superior sound
quality.
User Applications
Antipodes Music Server-Streamers offer users a range of best-of-breed playback applications. This range includes both Server (core) applications and Player (end-point) applications
for Squeeze (Lyrion), Roon and HQPlayer. It also includes a range of DLNA-type music servers, such as MinimServer, MiniDLNA and LMS, which can be paired with MPD (DLNA player), and our
music server-streamers are JPlay certified. You can also use any and all of these server apps to stream to compatible third-party end-points. An Antipodes can also act as a SONOS server and as a PLEX server.
Hardware Limitations
The Kala 41 differs from other models, in that it only runs server (core) applications. Therefore the Kala 41 needs to be used with compatible end-points.
The Kala 21 and Kala 22 can run both server and player applications, but they are not able to run HQPlayer Server, are not suitable for DSP functions and lack the power to quickly navigate
large libraries (eg. over 8TB). They can however be used as an end-point for a separate server (eg. Kala 41) running HQPlayer Server, or server applications involving DSP, or server
applications managing large libraries.
Orchestration Application

All applications are pre-installed, and they can be enabled or disabled with a single click. Disabling an app that a user does not need reduces computer activity, thereby benefitting sound quality.
